The centre is blessed by His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, the Chief Patron of the project and by His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji who is the Patron of the project. Sri Dr. V. R. Gowrishankar, CEO and Administrator of Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham is the other Patron and the prime mover of this project. Sri Sharada Peetham has entrusted the administration and operations of the Residential Centre to a group of parents of persons with developmental disabilities. A Residential Centre is coming up at Uttari Village, Kanakapura Road, Bangalore. The project aims to provide individualized long term residential care that is required by persons with development disabilities such as Autism. Starting with a pilot capacity of 25 such differently abled residents, the centre will eventually scale up in phases to achieve a total capacity of 250 residents. The project is promoted and managed by a group of parents of persons with developmental disabilities with the help of experts in this domain. Through this project we are trying to find a solution to every parent’s question – ‘Who will take care of my adult special son/daughter after me?’ Without the support of kind people like you, a project like this will never be possible. Here is an opportunity for you to make a difference to the lives of the people with developmental disability.
